Back on Track!

Well, it's been a funny sort of couple of months in Lippy Logic Land.

Christine would like to thank everyone for their support, concern and best wishes while her John has been poorly. Now that he's back on the road to recovery, well, it's all systems go, go, go!

We're just firming up dates for this year's shows so watch this space for more details soon.

hard at it writing our next show.....
That's if we can find the pencils and Lippy Logic Black Books to write something in them...

And then there's the Lippy Logic veg plot to dig over and start planting.

That's where you can help!

So what shall we plant then? Email us with your suggestions (keep it clean chaps). We'll try them in the two plots and see who grows the biggest, fattest, longest, tastiest in time for the local Village produce show in August.

See, told you it was all go....

Happy Christmas and a Merry 2015!

Thank you for all your encouragement and support this year. We've had a wonderful time getting out and about the country, and they say the Tour de France will never be the same after our intervention....

You may or may not be glad to hear that we're already hard at it writing lots of new material for 2015. And, oh look! We've found a few clever little Gadget thingys to add over on the right below our Gallery. Do try them, and then we'll know they work! Just click on the Email thing now so you can be the first to know what we're getting up to and where.

We've made a special little Christmas present for you below. Hope you enjoy it.

We hope you have all the good bits this Christmas, and a calm and healthy 2015.

Hope to see you soon!

How to Book

Lippy Logic is a two-woman show that brings live theatre to your doorstep with laugh-out loud comedy and acute observations of everyday life.

The show is made for Arts centres, village halls, churches, fields, barns, schools, small theatres; after-dinner pieces, Christmas parties, WI's, The Full Monty (er...that's to say "show") - you name it - if you have room for an audience and a small performance area, you can accommodate Lippy Logic, and we'll bring great entertainment and live theatre. Here is just some of our repertoire to date:

From comedy:Two ladies of a certain age meet the might of the Tour De France on a fell in Yorkshire • Hints and Tips of growing courgettes in adversity in a Yorkshire Country Garden • Singing lessons with a Teapot and a Flat Cap
To drama:The lifelong friendship of two friends is testing to breaking point when human frailties are suddenly exposed • the tense relationship between a mother and daughter • handling ageing and ageism

And right now, our 2015 show is making its way through the Lippy Logic notebook.

All you have to do is get an audience together, sell tickets, provide front of house people, oh and lay on refreshments (optional extras but they always go down well with audience and performers!).

We have the technical stuff - props, sound and lighting - we just need electricity to make it work. We can help with posters and publicity.

If you haven't done this before
Give us a call or send an email, and speak to your local authority’s Arts Development Officer who might be able to help. -

we'd love to hear from you!

Riding high in Hawes!

Well, we made it to the highest market town in England then (aka Hawes!). The bike is now having a rest and we have rather a lot of french sausage to get through. Not to mention the Très Grande Baguette.  The Dales Countryside Museum was a smashing venue, the people were lovely and the audience just great. And we had a jolly good time too! Thanks to everyone who came and who helped.

Here are some audience comments, followed by the press review:

People were very complimentary about Lippy Logic, I heard a lot of warm and positive feedback. I noticed much laughter at the ruder jokes from the elderly ladies......!
I laughed and cried in turn. The 4 part sketch [Photographing Kites] in Part 1 was most moving, and extremely well acted. I thought too that all the complicated scenery/props were really well handled, given you had such a small space. SO.....may you go on from strength to strength. AP

I'm from Australia and I thought I was coming to some amateur village show. But you were so professional, beautiful acting. The first part [Photographing Kites] was so sensitive too.  An Australian visitor

We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and there was a full house too.....Your second half [Tour de France] was so funny and was most entertaining. A&JD

WESTMORLAND GAZETTE
Don't be Lippy, use logic and go to theatre
A raptuous crowd enjoyed a fantastic live performance at Dales Countryside Museum

Mary Berry, eat your heart out. A full house missed the final of the Great British Bake Off for a performance by Lippy Logic in Hawes this week. Veronica Caperon and Christine Hooley brought a mixture of banter, song, and serious and comic sketches to an enthusiastic audience.

After some warm-up local humour drawing on the creamery, the rope works and Hardraw Force, the first half moved to a short play touching sensitively and powerfully on mother/daughter relationships, the challenge of finding the right man for some intelligent and forceful women, and the deep pain of the loss in the family. The pain was briefly relieved by the hypocrisy of an over-protective, right-thinking mother of another small child.

The second half began with a topical comic sketch set on the Buttertubs Pass where two women plan to infiltrate the first day of this year's Tour de France and win the first stage. They don't even begin to pedal and are silenced as the competitors zip past but, before and after, the jokes and the laughter flowed. The evening ended with the Wensleydale premiere of Lippy Logic's theme song with witty new words set to a familiar tune. The audience joined in the chorus with a will.

Clever writing and engaging performances showed just why so many of us are happy to leave the telly and the fireside for the live theatre.

Off to the dizzy heights of Hawes!

We've got our oxygen equipment for scaling the heights to Hawes in 2 weeks time on Wednesday 8th October. We just have to work out how to wear it while we get there on our bikes...

This will be our last public outing of the year (but have props, will travel), featuring our modest but highly acclaimed Tour de France adventure, and the funny yet moving "Photographing Kites" One Act Play. So if you've always wanted to know what on earth the fuss is about but never got round to finding out, now's your chance!

There are plenty of outlets in Hawes to get your tickets - click here for details. There are a limited number of tickets available at Crossleigh Stores in Austwick.  If you live in the Austwick-Settle area and would like a lift, or have a spare place in your car let us know and we'll introduce you!

And what a treat awaits you!

Laugh-out loud comedy and moving drama - that's what it says on our business cards, and we don't disappoint!

The Tour de France may have been and gone but we've still been honing our cycling technique, increasing the cushioning on the saddles daily. We promise you a wallow in the wonderful memory of that sunny day in July and Lippy Logic's conquest of the Cote de Buttertubs . "...first class entertainment. It was punchy, uplifting, funny and really got the audience involved. Your timing throughout, was excellent. Everyone came away laughing, which speaks volumes"

Our drama item "Photographing Kites" brought laughter and tears (in the right places!) "...whilst we’d been warned that it dealt with difficult subject matter, nothing could prepare the audience for the emotional punch as Gill and Sally’s story was revealed" It's funny, tender and sad.

And then there'll be the Wensleydale Premiere of the Lippy Logic Signature Tune which everyone can join in with gusto (bring your ouwn ukulele if you must)!

Lippy Logic go over the Dales and Far Away

Preparations are underway for our next performance at Dales Countryside Museum Hawes on Wednesday 8th October.
The 3-in-1 oil has been retrieved from the back of the Lippy Logic Potting Shed and liberally applied to the Lippy Logic bikes. Veronica is trying to persuade Christine to try her new training regime but Christine is objecting to the number of up-hill sections it features. Veronica says for every up there's a down; Christine says for every down there's an up. Watch this space to see how the new regime goes down.....or up.....

Tickets are already selling. There are plenty of outlets in Hawes to get your tickets - click here for details. There are a limited number of tickets available at Crossleigh Stores in Austwick.  If you live in the Austwick-Settle area and would like a lift, or have a spare place in your car let us know and we'll introduce you!

High Summer for Lippy Logic

Loyal Lippy Logic followers will have kept track of our...erm...track record over the last couple of annual village produce shows. We're please to say we are keeping our end up -

Third prizes for courgettes and Red Gooseberry jam this year, but our lips are sealed as to who won what. But plenty of material for a future piece of the dramatic arts - especially the astonishing cucumber...

HOWEVER!

Preparations are underway for our next performance at Dales Countryside Museum Hawes on Wednesday 8th October.

"I’ve caught Lippylogicitis" -

Grassington and Yorkshire Festival Fringes' Review 25th June 2014

Who'd have thought we'd be back at Grassington Festival Fringe (as well as the Yorkshire Festival Fringe) this year - and great to see lots of new faces too! Now we know how many calories are burnt on the Tour de France and rather more than we need to about a pig's rectal prolapse...

Many thanks to everyone who came to The Chapel and all those who helped us put the show on. We really do appreciate it.

Booking enquiries: tel: 01729 824537, info@lippylogic.co.uk

Below are some comments from the audience with a full press review at the end.

Well done both. Writing and acting were superb, funny, entertaining and confidently flawless (and you had me in tears!) More please.  JS

Well, you certainly know how to pluck our heartstrings and connect with our middle-aged lives, joys and angsts. Well done for the conception, writing and execution of a thoroughly entertaining and absorbing evening. I particularly enjoyed the reflective parts of the drama [Photographing Kites] in the first half when the characters were sharing their thoughts and feelings through monologue but because I am a fool at heart, my favourite piece was the Tour de France scene. It just made me laugh and was excellent. GP

We both enjoyed the LL night at Gurston!  (That's what Grassington was called by dialect speakers when l was a child and living there but not heard it called that in years.)  l didn't realise it was a 3 handkerchief night though, [Photographing Kites] was sad. We thought the song just right and the words almost Gilbertian in rhythm.  Keep on writing won't you? LC

Congratulations on an evening of all round entertainment...The second half [Tour de France and Song] was first class entertainment. It was punchy, uplifting, funny and really got the audience involved. Your timing throughout, was excellent. Everyone came away laughing, which speaks volumes. BH

Lippy Logic Rides Again! Grassington Methodist Church 25th June 2014
Returning to the scene of their debut last year local writing and performing duo Lippy Logic succeeded in entertaining a packed house with their now trademark mix of comedy and drama.

Lippy – Veronica Caperon and Logic – Christine Hooley – leapt on stage to introduce us to their show with a pun filled musical overview of festival headline acts which had the audience dancing and singing within a matter of minutes.

The newly written dramatic piece ‘photographing kites’ followed and whilst we’d been warned that it dealt with difficult subject matter, nothing could prepare the audience for the emotional punch as Gill and Sally’s story was revealed over 4 scenes. The actors convinced us of their mother daughter relationship and the misunderstanding that had prevented them supporting each other through their bereavement. Their reconciliation scene was genuinely heart-breaking and had the audience in tears.

After the interval we were treated to ’Les Dames du Tour de France’ on the côte de Buttertubs enjoying a French feast whilst waiting for the pelican – that’s peloton to cycling fans. A mix of Allo Allo and cycling for beginners the audience lapped it up! – it appears I’ve caught Lippylogicitis. A highlight was the audience singing frère Jacques in the round reworked to reflect the effect of a sea of lycra clad pédaleurs on the locals –I shall never look at a plastic picnic plate the same way again. As in the previous performance the acting was complemented by the props, costumes and soundtrack.

The finale was a comical new theme song ‘Now that We’re Fifty’ extolling the advantages of being fifty....ish to the strains of the ukulele performed with gusto by LL and their audience. As they say in their signature song “they’re feisty and flighty”‘ – looking forward to next year’s entertainment already.
JJ

Our next show is on Wednesday 8th October 2014 at Dales Countryside Museum Hawes, in aid of Hawes Parish Church. (Details here)
